Housing Choice Vouchers:
a story of missed opportunities

There’s no question that the housing market is challenging for renters with low income.

 

In particular, low-income families who use Housing Choice Vouchers (sometimes called Section 8 or rent assistance) have limited housing options and face many barriers to finding and keeping a home. Some of these barriers mean that voucher holders lack equal housing opportunity and that their fair housing rights are not fully realized. 

 

In an effort to understand and reduce these barriers, the Fair Housing Council has analyzed Milwaukee County voucher users' experiences in the housing market.
