MMFHC Programs and Services

MMFHC's Mission

The purpose of the Metropolitan Milwaukee Fair Housing Council is to promote fair housing throughout the State of Wisconsin by guaranteeing all people equal access to housing opportunities and by creating and maintaining racially and economically integrated housing patterns.

 

Enforcement Program

Conducts intake of fair housing complaints from the general public and counsels complainants on their options for administrative or judicial remedy.

Provides investigative services for persons who allege housing discrimination.

Conducts systemic investigations of institutional discrimination.

Outreach and Education Program

Provides presentations to consumers, advocates and the general public.

Publishes Fair Housing Keys, a quarterly newsletter.

Operates the Interaction for Action (IFA) Program, an interfaith network of clergy and laity from suburban and urban areas, committed to fostering inclusive communities.

Community and Economic Development Program

Works with community organizations, developers, and local policy makers on the need for fair growth and the promotion of racial and economic integration.

Connects lenders with opportunities for lending and investment in central city communities.

bullet

Addresses fair lending and seeks to eradicate predatory lending practices through its Strategies to Overcome Predatory Practices (STOPP) initiative.

Training and Technical Assistance Program

Provides fair housing technical assistance and professional support to government agencies, civil rights organizations, social service agencies and housing providers.

Conducts fair housing training for real estate agents, property owners and managers and other members of the housing industry.
